Girls Awards

LAGUNA BEACH, December 11 --  Sophomore Michelle Benninghoven was named to the First Team, All-League in an awards ceremony held December 11th. She was also named most valuable player and Kings Point Cup winner based on her team-leading 2003 stroke average.  Whitney Reeve was named to 2nd team all-league.  Coach Wayne Westling handed out varsity letters to Benninghoven (1), Reeve (2), Morgan Mahnke (1), Stephanie Kim (2), Carrie Lee (2), Anneka Nishijima (2) and Alex Cummings (3). 

Morgan Mahnke was named Rookie of the Year, and Bernice Macaya is Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player.  See the awards page for a complete list of awards.  More Photos.

IRVINE, November 6 --  Varsity wins last match of season!.  The varsity traveled to the Oak Creek course and were able to even their season conference record with a solid 245-262 win over Irvine High School.  Michelle Benninghoven led the way again with a 44. Stephanie Kim shot a 46.

Aliso Niguel finished third in the Sea View League, just missing a bid to CIF. In the past CIFF took the top three teams, but altered the formula this year, only taking the top two teams, which are Foothill and Woodbridge.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, November 3&4 --  Golf Team Excels at Conference Championship!.  The ANHS varsity golf team placed three girls in the top 12 finishers in the 36-hole league championship held at San Juan Hills Country Club.  Michelle Benninghoven (187) and Morgan Mahnke (190) both finished on the second  all-tournament team.  Carrie Lee shot 193 and Stephanie Kim 199 on the two-day event.  Whitney Reeve, who has missed the last several matches due to illness, was again unable to participate in the tournament.  Natalie Draganza of Newport Harbor was medalist for the tournament, firing  a sparkling 163.

ALISO VIEJO, October 30 -- The Varsity defeated Laguna Hills on the Aliso Viejo Valley course 239-258 to improve their conference record to 4-5. In other news, Sophomore Carrie Lee was named Captain of the team for the 2003 season, and the match against Irvine at Oak Creek has been rescheduled for November 6th.

ALISO VIEJO, October 23 -- The Varsity golf team lost their third match in a row, losing a conference match to Foothill, 236-211 on the Valley Course.  Michelle Benninghoven led ANHS with a 44.  Earlier in the week, the varsity played Newport Harbor on the Big Canyon course and lost a close match 273-260.  Morgan Mahnke shot 47, the low score for the Wolverines.

ALISO VIEJO, October 16 -- The Varsity Golf Team lost to Woodbridge on the Aliso Viejo Creek Course by 10 shots.  Michell Benninghoven was co-medalist with a 45. The girls next meet Newport Harbor on the Big Canyon Course in Newport Beach.

LAGUNA HILLS, October 14 -- Whitney Reeve led ANHS with a low round of 40 and the girls' varsity team defeated Laguna Hills High School 246-271.  Carrie Lee shot 48 and Stephanie Kim 49.  Earlier in the week ANHS lost a non-conference match versus Pennisula at Monarch Beach.

ALISO VIEJO, October 9 -- Michell Benninghoven led ANHS to a solid 236-273 win over Irvine on the Valley Course.  Michell shot 40 and Whitney Reeve 43. The Wolverines evened their conference record at 2-2.

SANTA ANA, October 7 -- Foothill HS defeated ANHS by 22 strokes on the very difficult Riverview Golf course.  Stephanie Kim shot the low score for the Woverines - a 48. The girls next play Irvine at home on October 9th.

ALISO VIEJO, October 2 --- Girls win by two shots!  The varsity golf team defeated Newport Harbor, Thursday, 236-238 on the Aliso Viejo Valley Course.   A consistent golfer all season, Michell Benninghoven broke through with a 40 - the lowest score for ANHS this season.  Whitney Reeve and Carrie Lee each shot 44.  

IRVINE, September 30 --- The ANHS girls' golf team lost their opening conference match, falling to defending league champion Woodbridge, 236-250.  Morgan Mahnke shot 48, the low score for ANHS.  Michelle Benninghoven and Stephanie Kim each shot 49.

ALISO VIEJO, September 25 --- ANHS made it two victories in a row by defeating Corona del Mar 240-245 on the challenging AV Creek course.  Sophomore Whitney Reeve was meet medalist with a 44 and sophomore Michelle Benninghoven was right behind her with a 45. The victory avenged the loss earlier in the week to the same team on their home course.  

Monarch Beach, September 24 --- The varsity won its first match of the young season Wednesday, defeating Trabuco Hills 231-265 on the Monarch Beach Golf Links.  Sophomore Carrie Lee was medalist with a 41.   Michelle Benninghoven recorded the second lowest score of the day, shooting 43.

NEWPORT BEACH, September 23 --- The girls varsity golf team lost to Corona del Mar, playing at the Newport Beach Golf Club.  Whitney Reeve shot 45 - the low score for ANHS.

PALOS VERDES, September 16 --- The Aliso Niguel Golf team opened its season Tuesday, Sept. 16th,  with a loss versus Peninsula at the Palos Verdes CG.
