Niguel High School launched its golf program in 1994 for boys and
girls. The program has succeeded due to the support of parents and coaches and
the cooperation of local golf clubs. As a result of that
cooperation, members of
the ANHS golf teams are able to play some of the finest golf
courses in Orange County while competing in the Sea View
league.
BOYS:
In these ten years of
competition, the Aliso Niguel boys team has made the CIF
tournament 8 of the 9 years, and won the Sea View League
championship in 2001 and again in 2005. They have finished 2nd in the league
five times, and never finished lower than fourth. In 2001,
sophomore Joseph Kim was named Sea View League most valuable
player!
The nine-hole record was set by
freshman Andrew Lowes in a JV match in 2005 when he shot 31
(6 birdies) on the Ridge course at Aliso Viejo.
GIRLS:
The varsity girls' golf team won
the league title in 2000, and again in 2005 (with a perfect 10-0
record). The
2005 team set a school record 189 on the AVGC Valley course on
October 6, 2005, bettering the 198 they recorded on October 14th,
2004.
Michelle Benninghoven holds
the single round record of 32, set on 9/23/04. In 2005 the team
had 3 players named to the 1st team all-league, and Michelle
was co-MVP of the league. |
